Is it o.k. to ask a question about peoples reviews of a particular local dive boat? I'm trying to decide between diving with CDS who I really like alot and trying a boat that departs from the mainland which will save $100 in ferry costs. If it's o.k. to discuss, I will post the name of the boat in question. Thanks.

Which boat???

I went on that boat right after they started selling tickets. It was a fast boat, and the crew was OK, as far as I remember. But it's kind of a resort-like cattle boat...no creature comforts at all, and only 2 dives. The dives we were on were OK, but were basically easy, shallow, beginner dives. Haven't been on it in years so I'm probably not the best diver to ask about the crew. I doubt the boat has changed.

Check out the Bottom Scratcher. You'll have a much better time on that boat. You catch it within the same area.

That's the one I took 3 weeks ago. What did you want to know?

Here is a short post I made about my trip

Thanks, your trip report was helpful. I just wanted to know if the general impression was favorable. It concerns me a little that you had a boat load of students but I guess this is just a chance one has to take. In my experience this limits the dive sites to beginner.

It appears to be mainly a Sports Chalet Charter on the weekends, and they have two trips per day, morning/afternoon, which is why I liked it because I could leave my house at 11am instead of 4am. The boat is fast, no doubt, the Captain really doesn't talk much, and you don't really get any food except for the end where he brings out meat/bread/cheese and you make your own sandwiches. But if you are looking to get two dives in and just want to spend a 1/2 day out, I'd say do it.

Two dives and only 1/2 day out??? Sounds like a 2 tank kayak dive. Cost = $0.
