They say that any mention of your name, whether they say good or bad, is good publicity, as long as the spelling is correct. So just to emphasize we are Blue Magic Scuba and we are on Cozumel.
I do remember Juan he was part of a group that booked for ten divers for two days during the first week of the year, which as we all know is one of the islands busiest weeks. A couple of days before dive day, they changed to 7 divers and three snorkelers. I told them that that was OK, and would charge them the lower snorkeler rate for the three of them. On dive day only six divers and two snorkelers showed up.
I think we all know where this is going
...
Not only did Juan not want to pay for the no-shows, when I told him we do not accept American Express, he tried to renegotiate everything and offered me about 25% less than the already reduced rate we had agreed on two weeks before. Oh, did I mention that he is NOT a diver? He was just a passenger; it is his daughter, a super sweet young lady doing her divemaster training in Cancun, (who was so embarrassed by his actions) that is the diver. Once everybody was on board, he insisted that he wants an instructor, not a divemaster because he does not know how to swim!! (Ladies and Gentlemen: truth is stranger than fiction; I am NOT making any of this up!!!) A twenty minute delay while we sorted this out and explained to him that we cannot teach him how to swim, that we did provide him with a snorkel vest AND wetsuit that will keep him buoyant. He finally agreed to snorkel by holding on to the ladder while the boat follows the divers. Later that day, his daughter contacted me and canceled for the next day (I was NOT surprised) I politely explained that I will not be refunding their small deposit.
