Has anybody dove the Blue Hole in Bonaire. We will be going there in late Aug. and would like to know if it is easy to find the site by shore.

Thank You

There is a blue hole in Belize - There may be one in Bonaire but I have never heard of it. There is a fantastic site called Ol Blue.

I believe it is on the opposite side of the bay from Lac Cai. Lac Cai is a great shore dive. I haven't done the Blue Hole but I believe it is a pretty long swim to get out there and you have to time it around slack tide. I'd just ask whatever dive op you are working with and they should be able to help you out.

I think it is now called - white hole. It is a 40ft depression in an otherwise shallow part of the reef on the east side. Never tried it from shore - it would be a long walk and swim thru shallow surf. I know it appears on the dive site maps but it is not practical as a shore dive. YMMV

Larry's wildside, as others have noted, goes there. Fun dive -- gentle swim around a 20ft circular wall. no current. sometimes a bit surgy. usually a big school of tarpon. glassy sweepers hang out in one corner. otherwise the usual suspects.

Commonly called the White Hole. It can be done from shore but it would be very sporty. (You can see it from Google Earth.)

A few guides do shore dives on the east side. Personally, I would do it by boat. Carib Inn goes over there some days. Larry goes almost every day.

This is not a shore dive to do unguided as a first time visitor...

We did it as a shore dive with Wannadive when we were there in July. We hit it on a good day and fought very little current. It was the single most amazing dive I have ever been on. Huge schools of Tarpon, tons of turtles and eagle rays. The vis on the reef on that side was better than the other side. The reef was absolutely pristine. That being said I would only do this dive as a guided dive.
