Mr Chen and I went tonight. Good viz 20-25ft and 81F water temp. We saw lots of stuff-stargazer, reproducing octos, big southern ray, tiny shrimp--AND MrChen ran into some folks from San Diego where he is from--he has the Chargers logo on his tank....They are here for DEMA. He said that was the highlight this evening!! I was warm getting out, I didn't expect to be! So go this weekend!

That part was cool, the best part was the octopus.

I chopped all the video I took and quickly put this together. No music, no fluff... just chopped out views of sand and night.

With the high winds this week, will BHB be too rough for diving?
Thnx

I'm looking at an opportunity to dive BHB next week. I will be in Melbourne on a business trip and hope to drive down on Thursday or Friday. Are there any planned dives on those days? I think (if I read the chart correctly) that slack tide is around 5:30pm on Thursday. With the time change is that a night dive? Do either of the dive shops have anything scheduled?

LOW tide is at 5:08pm on Thursday Nov. 7th. Mostly dives are done around the high slack which is 11:02am on Thursday the 7th..........You may well mean the following Thursday(the 14th) which has a hi tide of 5:44pm. Both Force E and Pura Vida have free yellow tide tables for the Port of Palm Beach. Force E has a map of the site which may be online as well.

Divers are supposed to be out of the park by sundown. I would expect some slack and stay until dark--still not enough as it was dark shortly after 6pm yesterday. Sunset, sunrise and tides can be found here.

That said, you could still get in an hour or more dive on Thursday the 14th...............get in early!

It won't be too rough at BHB but the vis will probably be way down due to the wave action on the beach stirring up the sediments and flowing into the inlet. I would say monitor this thread and/or call the dive shops for visibility reports.

Thanks! Yes I was talking about the 14th or 15th. Any chance Force-E or Pura Vida will be having a night dive?

Edit: actually Friday the 15th would be better.

What Djtimmy said...
I have no relocation of aborting a dive at the bridge due to it being too rough or too cold. That said, I have on more than one occasion either aborted a dive or decided to stay home based on lack of vis.
