Kinda bummed at what I saw yesterday, and apparently it is totally legal. Lobstering at the bridge.. sigh.. we saw some nice sized ones, that I am sure are not there anymore.. I thought it was illegal to lobster there, but apparently it isn't. (thought you couldn't lobster from a man made structure such as a bridge or pier)

I thought that too...was having a discussion just this morning with a friend that is thinking of lobstering there.

According to the lifeguard yesterday, it is legal. I have not found any where that says it's not..

Yeah, I don't think it is illegal, I just consider it poor form. Especially considering the distances people travel to look at the wildlife there.

That is OK though because I am going to start a Frogfish collection in my basement where they will be safe.

Oh that is soo cool. May I just ask one favor though? Add a webcam so we can see you forever feeding those froggies the critters you collected from the bridge. :D

A flying gunard who with patience allowed this shot...

And the male. Some of the photos show a spot near the front of the dorsal fin. Wasn't aware Sailfins had that.. Also, this guy was pretty large and I didn't see any others nearby.

A bandtail puffer kept a close eye on me for a good portion of the dive.

Have we not been saying that the site provides no special protection from the taking of fish, tropical fish, lobsters etc.. ??? Many thousands of lobsters are caught around bridges in the keys each year..

Perhaps a quota on the taking of lobster might make everyone happy.
