My Avatar is me, at BHB, Jenny took the pic.

^^^ Well, I guess it's better they recognize you there, than say, at the post office..

I just dropped my tank off for a fill and one of the new employees recognized me from my BHB FB photo posts and came up to me. I guess I'm easily recognizable. 🤷‍♂️
We're still hoping to follow you around one dive looking for ghost shrimps ;) One of these days ... at the BHB.

Since Hurricane Milton, I was suffering on a 35 day surface interval. I made last second plans to dive Sunday with a buddy who unfortunately had to cancel 2 hours prior to getting in the water. I arrived at the parking lot around 11:30am for a 3PM HT, and the parking lot was near or at capacity. At the light, about 8 people were crossing from the beach to the parking lot, so I followed behind them until a group jumped in a car and left.

I walked to the east bridge and to the end of the fishing pier to bide my time. About 1.5 hrs til splash time, I see Jenny with a few people. I felt guilty for not thinking to text her to see if she wanted to dive but was happy to see her. She was guiding and when she found out that I didn't have a dive agenda (I didn't have my camera), she invited me to join her as a second set of eyes.

Visibility was mostly 10-15ft. It was VERY easy to kick up silt, easier than usual. Water temp on the first half was 82 and 81 on the second half. I couldn't find any nudis or flat worms. Besides the usual eels and fish, I did find 3 skeleton shrimp, a jawfish, and a sea spider. I may have found a super small doto, but without my camera to take a pic and zoom in, I couldn't verify and didn't bother pointing it out since no one had a camera powerful enough anyways.

We did about a 2.5 hour dive. It was great getting back in the water. The funny thing is, it took me a little longer to get my gear prepped since it had been a month. I'm usually pretty fast with confidently dropping gear to a bin and loading my truck, but I felt a little hesitant that I was going to forget something.

Afterwards, Jenny unexpectedly treated me to dinner and beer at PA Grill, super nice of her.
It was a really nice dive @MrChen and @Scuba_Jenny - our longest by far! What a fun place to dive, you guys are so lucky - I wish I had something like that driving distance from Houston.

Nice meeting you and your friend (wife?). It was a good dive!
And thanks for reminding us locals how lucky we are to have a fantastic place to dive so close to home.

Remember, I recognized you underwater?

Dived the bridge this morning. 5' viz tops and that is being a bit generous. 78 degrees. Just under 2 hrs was all I could muster. Had plenty of gas left, but I was cold (wore my 3mm and hooded vest) and tired of straining to see anything beyond 2-3' beyond an arms length.

First time at Blue Herron Saturday 11/16 w/ my wife and a couple friends. When we got in it was about 8'. When we got out it was down to 3' or less in some places. I wonder if all the recent storm activity has the water churned up? Is this normal for November? We did some tours in October and November in Crystal River of last year and visibility was about this bad. Any way after about an hour of diving with someone who knew the area, we bailed. I still had about 1000lb in the tank and a spare :(

I'm excited to come back and explore when the vis gets better. What we did see was really neat. I'm no professional photographer, but here are some pics for what visibility looked like for the first part of our dive.
