Went to the bridge for diving yesterday. The park was not particularly crowded. Visibility was excellent, in the 50ft-60ft range. Sea temp was 80f. The first image I have posted below is an example of the visibility under the pier. The pier pilings are 33ft apart ( I have measured this in past), the image is taken from the between the first set of pilings after the ruble pile. The next set of pilings are easily seen, and the next set after appears somewhat hazy but can be made out. So 66ft, not in direct sunlight. So what would you call the visibility? Snorkeled the trail prior to diving, did a REEF fish count of 50 species in 50 minutes. Did the west side on scuba and remained for the duration of the dive, except for returning east to exit. Did a REEF fish survey 76 species in 75 minutes. Observed at least one Spotted Eagle Ray on the snorkel trail and while diving. It was approximately the same size, so I don't know if it was the same individual or a different individuals, I don't really have time right now to compare spots like a fingerprinting identification. On way now to do the bridge again today, it will be nine days in a row of diving for me. Eight at the bridge and one at the Erojacks in Dania Beach. Respectively, Visibility Example, Brassy Chub, Bumble Shrimp, Juvenile Porkfish, Rainbow Parrots, Spotted Eagle Ray Video, and Emperor Helmet Video.

I've never seen visibility like this there.

Yesterday was the best I had seen there (at least for a very long time). Still a little cloudy in the distance but awesome compared to what it had been.

My fish id skills are limited, how can you tell it's a dotterel?
'cause I mis identified it as a juvie scrawled filefish and somebody with better ID skills than I corrected me. :)
For the record, Dotterel are a little bit smaller, and lack the black spots. One of those "hiding in plain sight." You and the others were all near when I shot it, and I didn't think of it at the time.

Went to the bridge for diving today. Arrived at 1120 for a 1310 high tide, the park was not crowded. Sea temp was 82f and visibility was 20ft with a slight green tinge. Stayed on the westside for the entirety of the 130 minute dive. I did not encounter any other divers. It started raining during the dive, and thusly the beach was empty when I exited. That turbidity boom has become a real joke in the vicinity of the pier and the west pilings, It is tangled, ripped, and shredded. It does not seem to pose a threat to any sea life, as there is nothing for animals to get caught on. The most unusual observation of the day was a GO-PRO camera on a fishing line. I have seen YouTube video of people doing the same on ocean fishing piers, but I have never seen it done at BHB. It was of no interest at all to the fish. Did a REEF fish survey, 73 species in 65 minutes. I will definitely be avoiding the bridge this weekend, Respectively, Banded Coral Shrimp, Go Pro Camera, Lobster, Scrawled Filefish, and Seaweed Blenny.

Perfect weekend NOT to go to the bridge...
Hope local diving is good

Perfect weekend NOT to go to the bridge...
The short left turn lane fully stacked up on Monday and the entrance is closed to additional vehicles who all stop and ask the police "Why?". That bridge is going to be a nightmare for anyone staying on Singer Island as well as the constant emergency vehicles. Good day to own a motorcycle and lane split!!
