Looking @Wunderground right now, the coniditions this weekend don't seem favorable to a boat/shore dive, so I wanted to do BHB. I know its better to dive during high tide...but how bad is it during low tide?

It is rarely good. Almost always, low and outgoing tide brings murky conditions, extremely poor visibility that ruins an otherwise great dive. At its worst, you end up inching along, not sure exactly where you are, running into or touching inadvertently things that are best left alone.

I've tried it when I was desperate to get a dive in and I regretted the waste of time and effort.

Best wait for the tide. Sorry.

I second that. The beauty of BHB is invisible in the murk of low tide. Imagine diving in a barrel full of blindfolds. You're better off waiting for the high tide.

Great for low viz training, though. I taught U/W Nav at low tide, and it was great! They couldn't cheat. I also ran rescue scenarios at low tide... again... great!!! they couldn't cheat.
