Well, they've done it again. The media in the form of the Bloomberg Financial News has somehow glommed on to Dr. Bill, notorious dive bum of Catalina, and featured his scintillating voice during an interview about diving Santa Catalina Island. Oh, and by the way, it features some other guy, my old friend Jean-Michel Cousteau, as well as Avalon Mayor and SCUBA Luv owner Bob Kennedy. The accompanying article, written by Nadja Brandt, also includes SB member Jim Lyle.

The ~9 min video narrated by Nadja and filmed and edited by her husband Matt, features some great footage of Catalina waters. It and the article can be seen at this URL (the video is accessed to the right of the article as associated media):

Hope you enjoy it.

That is a great snapshot of Catalina. I'm glad to see the island getting the exposure and acclaim it deserves. We're diving there Saturday Bill, and I expect to see all of that, including the Mola! See what you can do, huh?

Nice video! Doesn't look like the same dive park that I saw on Saturday though.. the vis was awful... oh wait, I WAS with 8 OW students ;)
Gonna try to go back out there sometime in the next 2 weeks, on a weekday. I'll let ya know.

Good Job Bill! Good story as well.
Now off to find my first mola.

Great video, article, and interview! They were all very informative. I now have more of an idea what I'll be seeing next month. I hope my dives are as fruitfull as in the video! I'd love to see seals. The bat ray is a little creepy... :)

BTW, Dr Bill, you should put that article and video link in the catalina island sticky thread. It's a great "snapshot".

The article and video were all the work of Matt & Nadja Brandt... all I did was open my big mouth!

Good idea on putting it into the Catalina sticky... hopefully Jim will see the thread.

Nice article. Why was I visualizing you with Maria Bartiromo? Wrong media association, I know!

Ha! Bill you crack me up! Naoko says "Hi". I'm going to go watch the video now.

Maria Bartiromo... attractive, but I think we're on opposite sides of the socioeconomic spectrum! Besides, what I know about financial matters wouldn't even fill a thimble!

Thanks Kev & Naoko.

Paris Hilton has "celebrity" because she has money, what little "celebrity" I have comes from what little brains I have... 'cause I sure ain't got the $$$.

Dr. Bill, thanks for sharing and congratulations. We are very lucky to have such a great dive site out our front door!
