Heard from Dive Xtras. There's a new release 1.18 which apparently addresses the safe start issue.
Have installed it to the Blacktip. Reset the screen rotation to 0 and safe-start is on (1) by default.
Now to try it in the water. Have a shallow/scenic dive lined up for next weekend if the weather gods don't decide otherwise. Hopefully it'll all be OK.
Have some deep dives scheduled for next month. Think I'll have to bring the 'puter in case I need to update the settings.
