once when I was there the folks who went the other direction on a dive saw a hammerhead. Or so they claim.

There is no doubt it was a Hammerhead.

I believe it was Friday, but would have to look in my log books to confirm that.

The water temps were 82 degrees, although on Sunday it was cloudy and at one point the temp read 80.

If you saw a hammerhead on LC, you are fortunate, indeed. I had a shark discussion with one of the LCBR divemasters a few weeks ago. In almost 7 years of diving at least 5 days a week, he ONCE saw what he thought was a hammerhead. LC is not the place for "big stuff". On occasion, a shark or eagle ray, but not a lot of big stuff.

My wife saw a Hammerhead off Little Cayman 10 years ago, she and other divers said it was a big one ... at least 10feet long. I of course had run out of film as was on the boat ladder at the time.

All the folks on our boat, save 3, and including the DM saw a medium sized hammerhead off Cayman Brac in September. We felt very fortunate indeed!

We did 3 dives in LCM on Sat & saw sharks on each dive - a 10 foot reef shark at 110 feet at Eagle Ray Pass, a 5 foot nurse shark at 15 feet at Cumber's Caves & a 3 foot reef shark at 25 feet at Great Wall.
