Hi!

Heading down to Little Cayman for the first week of January (2-9th) staying at Little Cayman Beach Resort. What are the chances of seeing big stuff during this time? I was in Turks & Caicos two years ago in February and we saw sharks and eagle rays on almost every dive and even a humpback whale on one. T&C is more open ocean facing though, so maybe won't be the same as far as that? Spent a week at Wakatobi resort in Indonesia in September, which was awesome, but all little stuff so looking forward to some bigger things again!

Was deciding between LC and Bonaire but went with LC since I've been to Bonaire before and seemed to be mostly smaller things as well.

Any info is appreciated! (Also thoughts on the resort if you've stayed there would be great to hear as well!)

Love Little Cayman and Little Cayman Beach Resort. June 2008 will be our sixth visit. Couldn't ask for better valet diving service, top of the line food, great resort. Haven't been there in Jan, so I can't comment on the big stuff. Typically don't see a lot of big stuff in June tho. Still wouldn't trade it for any of the other places we have been and we have been all over the Caribbean. We keep coming back to Little Cayman!

Saw my first shark in Little Cayman, in April 06. A Caribbean reef shark. Saw another on the next dive. On other dives "only" saw nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, southern sting rays, turtles, monster sponges, schools of horse eye jacks, coral, lobsters, groupers, parrot fish, barracuda and a conch moving! And lots of little things. Can't imagine anyone being disappointed there. Oh yeah, and on the last dive day, some dolphins came out to play with the dive boat while we were heading out. I guess that is pretty uncommon there.
Enjoy!

Will be there 1/4-1/11. Hope to see you! Have been to LC a couple times and TCI over a dozen. You won't see the pelagics you did in TCI. Maybe one or two sharks per two tank dive day. I don't recall seeing any eagle rays in LC. Lots of turtles though. The resort is very nice and the buffet is really really good.

we usually see a shark or 2 a day, sometimes not. Reef or Nurse. We see stingrays and turtles fairly often. I'd say it's not the best spot for any particular thing, but good for having some of everything.

Not the shark or the eagleray sightings like in T&C but that BloodyBay wall is perhaps one of the best sites in the Caribbean. Not as much life as the Pacific either, I've seen alot more in Australia and PNG, enough to make Little Cayman look sick, but LC is still really great...for the Caribbean.

Snob. Another diver ruined by the Pacific!!!

Heehee. Well this will be my first trip after coming back from Indonesia so hopefully it won't be ruined for me after that! Even more so for my friend who is coming and he has spent the last year over there....

I guess it's kind of like when you grow up skiing in Vermont and think it's great and then you start skiing regularly out west and all of a sudden Killington seems pretty crappy. Eh, but any skiing is good skiing in my book, and hopefully the same will be true for diving..... (except for cold water diving.... I am a wuss... I admit it.....)

Having dived Palau and LC I can tell you LC is still world class diving. You won't be disappointed if you like wall diving.

Yes, I afraid so, I've been ruined :D! Or maybe we both are very fortunate to have experienced something beautiful, not just Little Cayman but some of the best in the Pacific. Yet, like you, I at times do wish it would be less costly as well as less time spent going so far from home for really great diving!
