Those hand pumps and compressors were mainly for air rifles and paintball guns... which usually use smaller tanks..

Alot of people probably just use it as surface supplied snorkel...
It's one of those things that if you drag to the beach you have one fill and have a few minutes of use then it's used up...
Very impractical...
Probably gets used once and never used again...
But it would make a handy air pig for tires or running your air nailer

I mean some of the videos are of ppl using them and getting around 20min on a tank! And thats with them using the hand pump.

There is a LOT of video editing involved. By marketing people who's job it is to convince you that you should spend your money. That is there job, to convince you that it is something that it isn't.

They didn't show how long it would take to actually use that pump. Not did they show how many times it was refilled for that 20 minute run time.

I don't have them in front of me at the moment, but there are formulas for how much energy it takes to compress air to usable pressures and volumes. Than convert that energy into how much of a workout for how long. The math doesn't lie. The video of someone effortlessly pumping that 'bicycle' pump might be true for the first couple of strokes, before any pressure is built up. Not representative of actually building pressure.

Oh dont get me wrong they have to work hard by the end but this is actual ppl testing them not just ads for them!
 
You think they are not ads for them. That is the clever marketing ploy. You think it is a true review.
Oh yes 100% some are. But a few of them have been done by ppl who had more bad then good. So I would lean more on them being real and not ads
 
Pumping a 0.2 liter cylinder to 3000 PSI takes at least 10 mins with a hand pump (IIRC from the last time I did it). That's 40 liters of air, which lasts 2-4 mins ON THE SURFACE (and taking it to totally empty). Oh, and don't forget to let your pump cool, or it will quickly turn into a $200 paperweight. (Recommended practice is around 30 mins cooling per 10 mins use.)

Your description of those vids is a bit at odds with reality. 😉

ETA: looked at my notes... It took me 17 mins to go from 100 bar to 230 bar on that 0.2 liter cyl.

Obviously not. Just offering a concrete data point with zero financial incentive involved. Perhaps I should have said, "my experience" rather than "reality". Do forgive my oversight.
