the answer of the above problem you guys refer to is that: some rechargeble battery add a circuit board at it's end. the purpose of this circuit board is protecting the battery for over charging\ over discharging\ big current or voltage which will cause damage to the battery. it's thicker because of it's two plastic cover and longer because of it's circuit board(for example, some 18650 is 4mm longer). such batteries are more safe for use, but if you can't put such battery in your torch, just clear the outer plastic cover and the circuit board, then it will change into the rechargeble ones that you mostly see
