I've been told that Dive Rite tweaks the regs so they are not the same internal. I just do not know any of the shops that have broken one down to check them. I would doubt that DR would not modify it somehow so as to make money on rebuild kits. I'll follow up on this though.

I understand what you are saying. I have two guys that work on my regs. Many of the guys are not authorized reg techs, but have learned the trade by watching. Sort of like a Pharmacist's Assistant. They fill the prescriptions and then the pharmacist checks them before going out the door. Big difference is that their is nothing to tear down on a pill.

Spratman, I know it is a long time ago that you raised this, but thought I would reply now that I have both the Dive Rite hurricane kit and the Beuchat V 200 service kits in my posession, and they are identical. I used the Dive Rite parts to service my Beuchat. Internal tweaks would amount to virtually the same cost as designing and building a reg from scratch, so was very doubtful that any had been made. I suspect it is all marketing hype.
The only possible tweak would be a different spring?! Seriously the HP seat is the same as the V 100. I suspect Dive rite supply the EPDM and Viton o-rings as standard, whereas Beuchat supply Nitrile o-rings as standard and have a different kit called "nitrox" with EPDM and Viton 0-rings (which is the one I have). Dive rite charge substantially more for their service kits than Beuchat, which is where the profit comes in. This can be avoided by Free Yearly Service!?!
At least I feal better having 2 sources of parts for these regs!

That's cool to know we can use the Dive Rite seat.
Do you know if it is the same seat for the VTX 8?

I think you mean the VXT 8?

This is the older generation of first stages and the HP seat is differant to the new V model (100 + 200) first stage mentioned above.

However, theres no differance between the HP seats on the VXT 10 and the VXT8, the one was just a swivel turret (VXT10), and the Iceberg model uses the same seats as well.

Actually you could buy an iceberg kit to fit onto a standard VXT10, but not the V models.

The latest V model first stages can adapt to the Dive Rite parts , but not the older models like the VXT, they are very differant.

However, all is not lost as most of the older VXT models will fit APEKS HP seats, but sadly, not all of them, there was a small technical change late in the products life, so you will probably need a sample and just have to check which APEKS kit you get to ensure compatibility.
