I bought this used tank a while back and didn't get around to using it. I just sent it out for hydro, and was wondering if anyone had any data on it such as full versus empty weight and buoyancy full versus empty. It weighs a TON (more than a hp120) with a service presure of 2900. It is shorter and fatter than an al80. Even though Beauchat has a label on it as a model 95, the stampings show it to be made by heiser with an 83 CF capacity. Can anyone explain why it is so heavy for it's size/capacity.:coffee:

if you search 'Heiser' here on SB you'll find numerous threads to answer the 'heaviness' question....Heiser's are ALL 'heavy' that's why you don't see anyone selling them anymore and they haven't been sold for quite a while now...they're very unpopular tanks !

After going back awhile on postings. I now know why it is so heavy. After checking threads and also a couple of charts on line, I still have not found any specifics in regards to buoyancy both full and empty.:banghead:

...just make sure your BC is 'man enough' (sufficient lift) to cope with that tank, which you can test under controlled conditions in a pool, before you hit open water with it, and make sure if you ditch the BC in the water, can the BC support the tank/lead load without the assistance provided by the bouyancy of a thick wetsuit. I wouldn't fool with that tank myself, but since you're sinking 'hydro' $ into it anyway, good luck with it!
