Most of the time, we carry our gear on our back expect for what will fit into a dry bag. So that means we carry our regulator, BC, dive computer and mask on our backs - fins and boots in one hand, and cameras and 'etc' in dry bag. Makes it pretty easy to get there and back. If we plan to bring towel/snacks those are either in the dry bag or also hanging on us. We might look like a Christmas tree as we get to the boat, but it's easier (IMO) than carrying a gear bag.

I do as @Kimela, except I weave my wetsuit through the tank straps, and clip my mask and fins, with boots stuffed in the fin pockets, on my chest D rings. Regs/computers, towel, dry clothes and save-a-dive kit go in a dry bag that I hand carry.
