Hey all, I was thinking about diving Destin Jetties this weekend (14-15 Oct), but am unsure. I have been told that the time to do it is at high tide. The forecast for high tide this weekend is at O-dark-thirty (O for "Oh my God, it's early"). Can any of the resident ScubaBoard Gods confirm or debunk this myth? Does the tide play into it so much that it would be better to go elsewhere?
Please advise, since I hear that some of you practically LIVE at the Jetties!!

T'is not a myth, dive the tides at high slack or fight one hellova current, or if you dive at low slack - less than optimal visibility.

Hey, thanks for the verification. You mention that low-slack (unsure just when that occurs) has "less than optimal visibility". What would you characterize "less than optimal" as?
At this point in my dive career, it feels as though any chance to get wet is worth it ...

Less than optimal in Destin is far better than less than optimal in Gulf Shores  I'm sure you'll have ~5' of visibility or better.

Look at any tide chart, it will note a high tide and a low tide.
