I've heard there is an entire season where Hole is blown out -- is that not true?

While the rains may have blown out the north central Florida caves, they certainly did not blow out the caves in and around Marianna. I've only seen Jackson Blue blown out once and I dove it that day. I even took video! While the caves around High Springs and Luraville were closed, I was diving and teaching in the caves in Merritt's Mill Pond.

Almost everything besides the Mill Pond area

I wouldn't call it blown out. No one is really sure what happens to it. It can still be dived, though. The visibility drops to about 10' and the lower portion of the cave is in the high 50s temperature-wise, but we still dive it.

Besides, that didn't happen last year! :D

TSandM Probably not the place but....met you at Gran Cenote on 11.25 briefly. We were cavern and finishing up while you were gearing to go. I was interested in your ability to shlep the doubles when I have trouble with an 80! Anyway, have since read your profile and I'm not sure how small the professional community is, but my brother in law is an ER physician. A pleasure to put a face with all of the very well thought out posts I've read.

Mitzi, glad to hear from you here!

I was laughing later, as I couldn't get back on my feet after that dive, that when you asked, "You carry those?" I should have answered, "Not very well!"
