I thought I'd start a post where people can list the best
things they've learned on here, sort of give our new members
an outline of hot topics they can then follow up on.

1. A tank will freeflow at depth roughly at the same rate it will freeflow on the surface.

2. You should aim to be neutral at the end of the dive,
at the surface, with little air left on your tank. If you are
neutral at 15 feet at the end of the dive, you will be positive
on your way to the surface through that critical last half
atmosphere.

3. Whales have bad breath.

1 CO2 is a significant contributing factor to Narcosis as well as O2 toxicity

2 Sidemount is NOT DIR

3 whales can explode!

4 H2Andy is always right

5 H2Andy is always right

1. Backplate and wings are a good alternative to traditional BCs

2. If you're thinking about moving to a scuba state, Florida is a good choice (despite the occaisional unrelenting wind and hurricanes)

i learned that those expensive force fins can be DIY made at home out of 2 plywood boards cut to any size ( the bigger the faster) horizontal, and 2 smaller plywood boards glued (dont use WELL BOND) or nailed on vertically.....a Tip : DO NOT USE DRYWALL...I LEARNED THE HARD WAY.

That no matter how hard you try to help people and give them good advise that they are going to be stupid anyway, do stupid things, and end up getting themselves or someone else killed.

And that they will defend those practices right up to the last moment.

Just a reminder, our goal in this thread is to list specific things we've learned, not general comments about the board or the posters. let's give the new arrivals some gems
