1000lumen isn't too much, if you have a video light head with a wide spread, and have multiple power settings it is perfect.
 
Magic shine.
As long as it works. Trouble is, they stop doing so after a while.

I had one with 1200 Lumens that cost me around $200. Worked fine for 2 dive trips and promptly went off in the middle of a dive on the third trip. When I got back home, I was a week over the 12-month warranty but the kind UK distributor recognised the fact that there had been numerous complaints and accepted the return with a full refund.

The trouble in most cases appears to be the rotary magnetic switch but not in others (including mine).
