ReyeR,

I am.

Hey Ed....you might keep in mind that most everyone here aren't using the same set up you are. They also don't have the same requirements and restrictions you usually mention.

Everyone back up! Oly 5050 pt015 sea&sea ys 25 stobe would like to use two xp cards 256mg and get one device to download into and keep running all week with two cards. Please give a suggestion on one of the few portable chritters out there that I can do this. After that grab your swords. I do like to watch but then again I get confused. Please make it SIMPLE please. Thanks

Buy an Archos Multimedia Jukebox w 20g.

I use a 5050.
Dive two weeks at a time.
Take lots of photos.
Keep at least 15 CDs of music on it.
It's not even 1/4 full.

That's simple experience.

TedJ, do you know if Archos Multimedia Jukebox can display tiff picture on its LCD or if it only supports JPEG.

Perhaps blacknet is talking about a 8x10, CMYK, 16bits/channel @ 300ppi TIFF file which would be about 59MB.

Currently the largest file from a 5MP camera is a TIFF file (RGB, 8bits/channel) at 14MB.
That wasn't the statement I had a problem with...

Yes to get a decent 8" x 10" print you will need at least a 30 meg file, anything less will suffer detail loss.

You can get a VERY decent 8x10 print, with MUCH MUCH MUCH less than a 30meg file.

Any special gear/cables etc that you will need to do that transfer? I'm sold! (Didn't really like the idea of toteing that laptop around with me everywere anyway) :)

That would be true only if your definition of 'decent' was subjective.

Thanks folks for the input. Here is what I just ordered I went with the Nixvue Vizor with the 40 gig hard drive and two oly xd 256 cards and my camera came with a 32mg card so that should cover a couple of dives at least. Also ordered extra bat. for the Vizor and the xd card adapter. Thanks

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, I've been without access for several days. Don't know offhand but I'll try later this week and post a reply.
