Sorry Pensacola Peeps... I do 99% of my diving in Pensacola, and I LOVE IT, but it can't beat the ease, convenience and value of the area between Boynton Beach and Ft. Lauderdale.

Miles, yes, MILES of live, garden-of-eden class reefs within sight of shore, easy shore dives, numerous dive shops within walking or driving distance. Better visibility, warmer water, $50 two-tank dive charters.

Pensacola has better spearfishing, no question at all about that, and the Oriskany, but I'd rather live in Broward or Palm if I had the choice, and drive to Pensacola once or twice a year.

Yeah, and I'd prefer not to have to dive dry. I know Pensacola can get pretty chilly in the winter vs say West Palm.

What city is best to live in for diving outside the keys? Would most say West Palm Beach area?
:D Too funny! I was all set to say "Key Largo", but you knew that already. I guess this question is about the "Runners up" for diving. :D

Yesterday, I helped the Lorax for the Reef (Ken Neidemyer) prune and clean his stag horn coral nursery. Three dives over an hour long and it was GREAT!!! I wore only my swimsuit and t-shirt. I taught students in the pool today in the same swim suit and t-shirt. I couldn't manage that anywhere else in Florida right now. :D
