I'm a Fish!
Hey everyone, i live in Wisconsin, so sadly i cant just jump in the water with no wetsuit :( and i decided i want to start drysuit diving, for lake michigan and ice dives, but i dont exactly want to drop a couple grand on just the suit, plus underwear, boots, gloves and a hood. So, what would you say would be the best drysuit for the money, i was looking at the scubapro everydry 4, but i dont know much about drysuits, especially the neoprene kinds.
Thanks

If I was planning on wreck diving I would get a DUI CF200 off of Fleabay. Wait I already did that! Got over 250 dives out of it, and spent $400 on it including DUI 400g undies. A few sets of seals and one zipper replacement later it is now my backup suit to one I bought off of Scubaboard, which is a Fusion Techskin LE. Often I still wished I dove the CF200. Although I often dream of a DUI TLS350...

Wisconsin. Couple grand? The high end is out. DUI -compressed, not crushed. Latex zip-seals, neoprene is warmer but hard to doff/don when frozen. The suit will serve you well. Polartecs, Weezles, etc will work fine at first. (You will be too juiced under the ice to know how cold you are.) later, save up then spend the next round on Santi undergarments.

Stay [-]safe[/-] [-]warm[/-]
safe.

I was going to upgrade, but I just can't kill my CNse. Second set of kneepads (kevlar) and enough repairs that Aquaseal can make a valid claim to my suit's brand.

what type of undies do you need with a DUI CF200? or is there different types for different dives. also, which one is best for which use?

Changes with the temperature. Sometimes just Patagonia capilene top and bottom so the drysuit can't "bite" me, other times my "Pats", Under Armor, AND my Polartecs.

BTW, I'd save the money and stay with "compressed" (CN) rather than "crushed" (CF) neoprene. -just me, your choice...

Call DUI for sizing and you probably should start out with "turbosoles" (attached boots) for convenience. -and now your fins won't fit. :(
