What is the best diving insurance? DAN and PADI, the best advertised, seem about the same. I’m guessing the real difference will be when you need help or to make a claim. Anybody out there have and experience with filing a claim?

Thanks,
Mike

From past discussions on this, it looks like most people are going with DAN... I have yet to hear a complaint. You could try a search for insurance and find the old threads on this, that might help.

After much research - I chose the DAN prefered program. DAN is the leading authority on Diving injuries and related treatments - it just made sense to me to go with them! (Plus - I give PADI enough of my money for certifications! <S>)

Hi MikeS,

What's best for you depends upon your diving style, needs & desires. As with life, health & homeowner's insurance, you cannot simply go by what others have purchased.

My 06-03-01 post comparing the various dive accident policies of the various agencies appears in this thread http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?threadid=1845

You may find it helpful. If after reading it you have remaining questions, I'l be happy to attempt to field them.

Best regards.

Hi Stone,

While I suspect this poster is inquiring about dive accident insurance, you are correct that you should understand your life insurance policy. Some do have special provisions for scuba.

Best regards.
