G'day,
Heading down to Fla for a few weeks (from snowy Georgetown, Ont.), and would like to squeeze in a weekend dive trip in Key Largo area.

Could anyone recommend a dive operator and hotel for a few nights?
I will be diving, with wife and kids shopping....

Noticed Rainbow Reef's web site http://www.rainbowreef.us/ anyone know what they are like?

Spiegel Grove looks interesting.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My wife and I dove with Silent World. They were great. There are a lot of great dive ops in Key Largo.

Great trip report. I'm thinking of a trip along those lines this summer.

Went down to Key Largo in September in between hurricanes and had a great time. Used Scuba-Do, both Laurie and Tony are great. Spent 3 days and got in 12 dives including 2 on the Spiegel and one on the Duane. Highly recommend them great small boat and lots of individual attention. Hope to be down with them again this year.

I feel these guys are the best operators in Key Largo. http://www.bluewaterdiver.net/

I like Quescience. They run 6-pack boats so you have plenty of individual attention. I didn't, but you can rinse your gear and lock it up in their shop overnight if you are diving with them the second day.

Spiegle Grove is an awsome dive.

Just avoid the "cattle boats" where you are shoved on to a huge boat with a lot of other divers. All the small ops mentioned in previous post are excellent, I just used Quescience the last two times and they will probably remain my first choice. Just my 2 cents.

Dive Key Largo every 3 months or so and usually go through Ocean Divers. First rate outfit for dives on the S. Grove and Duane. Mid-size boats not cattle boats. Decent rates. Have a website you can check out their dive schedules on. Have also dove Scuba-Doo also great outfit.

Can't go wrong with the majority of the dive outfits in Largo. Very competitive and a sub-standard outfit won't last...

Moved to FCD forum.

As for diving in Key Largo i really enjoyed Island Ventures, was ok on Florida Keys Diver Center (had something weird about tank boots and carrying your tanks on to their new boat), and didnt really like Tavernier Dive Center - although that might have been sharing a boat made for 15 or so divers with nearer 25 divers - although TDC werent happy about doing it the organiser of the trip was insistent and poorly organised. Looking forward to going again this summer with those or other ops down there.
