Hi

Ive just passed my open water and am looking to dive in the Caribbean towards the end of the year by which time I aim to have passed my Advanced Open Water.

I am looking for a mixture of wreck and reef diving without too many strong currents.

Where is the best all round place to dive and what costs am I looking at for full kit hire (except mask, snorkel and booties) for a 5 day package.

Cheers

Spunk

Caymen Islands have a one of a kind diving spots.

Welcome Mike, Lots of good info on the board about all kinds of places. One of my friends took his non diving wife to Coco view and said she enjoyed the trip (Reading, sunning, night entertainment etc...)

Have a great trip.

Kenny,

Sounds to me like you need to find a new girlfriend. :D

A few recs:

The BVI's have a great wreck (Rhone), lots of other good dive spots, and nice topside diversions.

St John (USVI) has ok diving (and you can do the Rhone from there), but fantastic topside beauty (beaches, rain forests, etc.) if pleasing your non-diving friend is a high priority.

Little Cayman is not a wreck destination, but the wall there has some great dive spots. Not much in the way of topside activities.

My wife is a nondiver, and I take her to the USVI's and BVI's and go to Little Cayman on my own.

Looks like he dumped her and edited the post.

Hey, Mr. Spunk, and if I may call you Spunky. It's all good. just head South. You might want to define yopur objectives and fill out your profile. Other than that- you can't lose.

Bay islands, Caymans, Bahamas, Saba, Bonaire, Cozumel, and Belize are all considered very good

Grand Cayman (the East End has some of my all-time favorite dives and I've been back several times), Curacao and BVI would fit the bill. Cozumel too, except that is drift diving and the currents can be mild or very strong, depends on the site and time of year.

For a non-diver I think Cayman and Curacao would have a bit more to offer.

Bonaire gets my vote...no boats and dive wherever you want anytime....
