Just curious what everyone thinks is the best dive site IN Texas and why. This is just for inside the state boundaries. No Flower Gardens....

Just curious.

thanks

Balmorhea?

I thought that was a pretty suprising trip. Didn't think Texas had it in her to give up a decent dive like that.

Hands Down... Lake Pat Mayse

...snort!

It's kind of interesting- I've tried to type a response several times, and each time, once I get a "best site" typed in... my mind begins to flood with all the other sites, each unique and "best" in it's own way. So, my list has to have categories:

1. Best vis: Aquarena
2. Best walls: Clear Springs
3. Best drift dive: Comal River
4. Best aquatic life: Aquarena
5. Best SI's/dive get-togethers: Clear Springs

I remember asking a well-dived friend where his favorite dive site was, and he responded, "All of them." At the time, I thought it was a passe' answer, now I get it.

Excellent answers. I might add...

6. Best deep lake dive: Lake Travis

Mountain Creek between Dallas and Grand Prairie!!

LVX mentioned dive site. The key words here is "Dive"
I knew nobody would mention Pat Mayse.
We have done Scuba there but it's kind of a special thing and not for everybody. So don't take it seriously. However... I'll be heading out there pretty soon to look for fossils along the shoreline under water.

C'mon, Alan -- we're trying to ENLIGHTEN him, not make him RADIOACTIVE...
