Two suggestions from places we have stayed.

1. Curacao - Papgayo Beach Resort, across the street from Jan Thiel Beach. Very few Americans, mostly Dutch.

2. Roatan - Reef House Resort, on a small island off Roatan in the Oak Ridge area

Bonaire is much better for shore diving then Cozumel. But Cozumel does have some fantastic boat dives and is cheaper then Bonaire. You can do an all inclusive week with air and diving for around $1,500 per person.

I will be in Cozumel Sunday, staying at El Cozumeleno. From past experience, there is no shore diving there. You can snorkel from there, but really just sand.

We were looking for a place to shore dive/snorkel, and thanks to you all, we will try Bonaire this fall!

Unlimited shore diving sounds great!

Bonaire,
any resort along the ocean. Plaza Resort was great we looked at a lot of others and all are very nice. We decided to stay a little inland on the next trip at Golden Reef Inn.

Been to Cozumel many times, not much shore diving available from my experience...boat dives are awsome.

I have to chime in on the Reef House Resort in Roatan as well...stayed there almost 1 year ago to date and the reef wall just off the dock was spectacular. Many other sites with in a limited swim...overall, I would say excellent.:D
