I agree - but what I did was lose an octo - one primary and the Air 2 or 3 and done... redundancy would be my pony or Air 2 and 3 - could not figure why I needed 3 regs on my gear... This may be a decision only for me - but with all the hoses and pulling a flag and chances of tangling on something - it seemed to make sense for me to drop a reg...
 
Gotta be honest. I have never been impressed with the AIR II/III idea. I understand the appeal but I've had far less problems with an octopus and any student I've ever had has eventually took the AIR II off of their rigs.

Grab yourself a standard inflator a Scubapro octo or even a HOG Classic and call it a day. IMHO


You should be able to operate the Air 2 with one hand to inflate, deflate etc. I myself have removed the octopus and dive with a pony bottle, and Air 2 and a primary second stage. Seems to work well for me.
