Before I die, in my diving career, i want to see

an octopus
a sea horse
a whale shark

I want to dive the great barrier reef

I DON't want to tec dive (as Dirty harry says in Magnum Force, a man has got to know his limitations)

A close friend of mine went to Alaska to see a grizzly bear and he asked the keeper of the remote lodge he had booked: where can I see a grizzly? The man frowned and said "we consider ourselves lucky if we NEVER see one." The same of tornados --- some long to see one, some pray not to. Thus, one person's ambition is another's terror. Some long to dive with sharks, some hope never to encounter one.

Most divers have dreams of what they would like to do before they breathe their last (regulator) breath. What are they? And what are we doing to achieve them?

And what do people have no desire to do, and why?

I'll be happy to keep diving until I'm old, very old.

Sites and sights are cool and I hope to do my share of travel but staying in the game is at the top of the list.

In his book Silent World, Cousteau says that the "aqualung" would make diving so easy that it could be done by old men "and even women". A little politically incorrect, but thank you jacques for making it so we can all dive into old age

I would just like to dive the world's great reefs,
befor they all die.

My list:

a saturation dive as an aquanaut on the aquarius,

the USS San Diego, with greater than 5 minutes bottom time!

and, of course, diving with one of those HUGE whales!

Dive with my grandchildren.

We don't have grandchildren yet. Our kids are in their early twenties, but I suspect neither are planning on having kids of their own for a number of years. No rush, just a matter of time and staying in resonably good health.

I've met two of shakeybrainsurgeon's death requirements! Seahorse, check. Octopus, multi-check. I can now almost die with shakey's approval!

I want to do a liveaboard. Wait- let me clarify- I want to do a liveaboard whenever I feel like it. Not just once. Maybe I would like to OWN a liveaboard and not have to make money at it- and then the crew would have to put up with me and I could boss them around and stuff...

Great Barrier Reef (no barb to the heart, please).
Belize
Seattle area giant octopus dives
Alaska diving

Is it wrong to want to die at 300+ feet narc'd out of my mind? So I guess I want to see a talking fish before I die...

(not saying I plan on nore do I want to die for a very very long time... just saying, it'd be on my list of ways to go)
