Beanie or Hood???

I use a Bare 2mm beanie in all my warm water dives. It has made a huge difference in my comfort and it has never even come close to coming off. I'm bald and the beanie is necessary and super comfortable - it is also cheap enough that you can try it and you won't really be out much if you don't like it.
 
( Sorry, but you are very wrong) They make a great deal of difference in heat retention and they can't come off unless your mask falls off!!!

My experience contradicts yours. Unlike some posters here, I prefer a hood to a beanie, but I won't argue with their preference. The OP asked for opinions....I gave mine. [shrug]
 
i'm fairly thin and get cold easier than most so if given a choice i always wear some sort of head insulation, i've never dove in cold enough water or gotten a chance to try a full hood, but i like any extra insulation i can get
