I have a Cressi Travelight BCD and was wondering if anyone knew how to determine the maximum tank size a BCD can carry? I checked Cressi's website and couldn't find anything on it, so can I assume the Travelight can carry a 42+ lb tank (HP119)?

I sent an email to Cressi asking this question but never heard back, so I was wondering if someone here knew.

It doesn't matter that the HP119 weights 41lbs.... the wing only has to keep it neutral in the water not on land or in the air.

What matters is:

1) The tank is 10.5lbs negative when full
2) How much buoyancy your wetsuit will lose at max depth.

The wing has to have enough lift to handle the sum of those two numbers. You might be in swim trunks in warm water and only need the smallest of travel wings. Or you might be in a 2pm 7mm wetsuit and need another 20lbs of lift at depth.

Make sense?

Yeah makes perfect sense. I was concerned about the thin material of the Travelight BCD itself not being able to support the weight of a heavy tank while on dry land. I suppose if there was such a concern then Cressi would make known a tank size limit in the specs.

I can't imagine that's a real reason. An AL80 is 32LBs. 42LBs isn't that much more.

I think they just do that to dumb it down.

I dunno, the Travelight is pretty thin with 210 denier. I guess I'll just have to give it a try and hope it doesn't rip the BCD.

Have you considered a BP/W?

I'd like to get one in the future but the Travelight was just purchased so it'll have to do for now.
