No manufacturer makes poor gear (from a life support standpoint), if they did, they would have been litigated out of business by now.

What you need to ask is "Which BC is most suited for the amount and type of diving I will be doing and for my experience level?"

Every diver can defend his or her choice of gear with a sound, reasonable discussion (some just choose not to be sound OR reasonable) Anyone who has been diving has also made some poor and ill advised purchases as well. We learn from our experience. Best advice I ever heard was "RENT, RENT, RENT, different gear for the first 20-30 dives, then buy what you liked"

Renting gear for 30 dives is expensive.. especially for a 17 year old.

I am interested in buying a bc and was wondering if someone would be able to suggest a good bc. I was looking at zeagle, and at the genesis bc's. would you be able to tell me if these are good companys and mabye suggest a good bc

Hi. I dive a Dive Rite Transpac with Rec Wings. I'm not telling you what to buy...just what I think about it. I really like it. The versatility is probably better than any Zeagle out there (MY opinion). I do have to admit that the Zeagle Ranger and such has a much more comfy back pad.

A lot of your BC choice depends on what kind of diving you are doing now...and where you want to take it next. I.E. if you are only planning on always doing recreational diving, don't need to ever dive doubles, use stage bottles and deco dive, etc... then it's probably not such a critical issue as to how versatile the model is.

rent, or do as I have done. Over the last 6 years alone I have bought at least 8 tanks, 3 BC's, 3 regs, uncountable masks and fins and spent more than I care to think on gear I wound up selling at a loss because it didnt work out.

well i am just starting of i want to do my open water dive this winter.

I would probably rent for the fist couple of times but i would like to have my own equipment.

As for the bc i was looking at the Aquatec BC-47 200TW buoyancy compensator with Scub-Alert Power Inflator.

and for the regulator i was looking at the Genesis GS2000 GR450 Adjustable Scuba Diving Regulator.

can you pps tell me what u think about the equipment i chose.

I have a practically new sea quest balance sitting in my gear room as I love my new BP/W set-up.

I think mine was a Balance III, but it went on ebay after my 10th dive with BP/wing. I guess I can safely recommend NOT getting that one.
