Hi All!
I've just resurrected a 1993 bauer purus. I've swapped the old 3 phase motor for a new one phase and fitted a new filter cartridge. Everything seems to go as it should except as the title suggests it only goes to 180 bar? No leaks odd noises or other apparent problems. Can anyone give a diagnosis and or suggest a course of action.

Cheers!

What is the final safety set for? Does this unit have the motor on a hinge plate that can be separated from the frame? Is the filter tower gold with the final safety in the head of the tower? If so, the factory set it at the request of the purchaser. They usually have a metal tag showing what the internal adjustment is set for. The top knob on the head may be stamped 225 or 330 bar, but it is the internal setting that controls the vent pressure. If it is the model I believe it to be, the max operating pressure is 5000 psi. In 1993, they produced a unit which depending on motor hp was designated as a Purus (2 hp) or Utilus 10 (3 hp).

Post a picture of the filter tower and I can tell you if it can be adjusted and how to do it.

Mine was doing the exact same thing when I first got it. 2200psi was all I could get from it.

With it running but not yet at full pressure (or as high as it goes), run your hand along the cylinder heads and tubing. Follow the route that the gas takes as it gets pumped. things should tend to get hotter the further along you go. if you suddenly find a somewhat cool item, this tells you that the pressure has stopped building in this area. I found my number 3 cylinder head was not getting very hot at all. When I removed the head, I found one of the valves was stuck. Wd-40 got it free again and followed with a good wash with simple green.

PS - keep your damn hands and fingers out of the pulleys and belts when doing this or wait until you turn it off.

Thanks for the prompt replies and for pointing me in the right direction. I've opened up the third stage and cleaned it up (pretty dirty in there). It seems that wasn't the underlying issue though. CraigAClarke you were spot on and with reference to a few other posts i've been into the filter tower and adjusted the output. I now have a fully functioning 260 bar home fill station . I'm very pleased ,thanks for your assistance Dsix36 and CraigAClarke.

Cheers!
