Can someone help me understand some of the differences between a balanced and unbalanced regulator? Why go with one style over the other?

If it helps, I am around 6ft1 and 165 lbs and do not see myself realistically going deeper than 50-60ft during my future dives.

Thanks in advance!!!

simply put, a balanced regulator breathes the same regardless the amount of air pressure. while this is good, it can be a problem if you "check-out" and don't check your pressure gauge often (ie. OOA Situation) Also, balance tend to perform better at depths of 100ft plus. for the diving you are doing, it will most likely that you will not need a balanced regulator.

hope that helps :D
