Basic gear from mid-twentieth-century Greece

Let us start with the company's diving masks. First up is the Mini Linea 704:

So a kidney-shaped diving mask with a plastic frame and a rubber skirt. Fitted with a nosepiece for compensation and a single head strap with twin buckles.

Glaros No. 608 diving mask:

​

A compensator model. Oval lens retained by a metal rim. Corrugated bosses on the inside and finger wells on the outside to enable nostrils to be pimched when ear clearing. Split head strap secured with twin metal buckles.

Glaros Serena diving mask:

​

Another 1970s-style kidney-shaped single-lens diving mask. Nose pocket for compensation purposes.

An updated version of the Glaros sub Serena: the Serena 588.

Same kidney-shaped lens, but with a plastic rim featuring built-in twin buckles for the head strap. Nose pocket enabling nostrils to be pinched when ear-clearing. Soft rubber skirt.

Glaros sub Star 702 diving mask.

​

Another kidney-shaped diving mask featuring a plastic rim with built-in buckles for the head strap. There is a Pinocchio-style wire holding together the top and the bottom of the skirt at the front. Nose pocket to facilitate compensation.

Glaros sub Titanic diving mask:

A rounded rectangular diving mask fitted with a plastic rim. Compensator bosses on the inside and finger wells on the outside to pinch the nostrils when ear clearing.

L-shaped snorkel with plastic barrel, lugged rubber mouthpiece and keeper for attachment to diving mask. L-shaped breathing tubes were designed to reduce the amount of residual water accumulating near the demand end.

Glaros De-Luxe fins:

Closed-heel fins with side rails for reinforcement. Note the bird outline on the foot pocket and blade to acknowledge the Cressi Rondine original design. Very comfortable fins to wear. The Greek word on the bottom of the blade means "floating".

The style closely resembles the Balco Flipper model:

Glarosub fins:

​

Full-foot fins with centre rib and side rails to reinforce blade. This model comes in size 46-48 to accommodate wetsuit boots and drysuit feet. Very comfortable foot pockets too. I have a couple of pairs from mu regular vintage snorkelling days.
