Hi,
I've never heard anything bad about White's suits. It seems they're a bit more expensive though for a comparable product, is that correct?

As I was shopping around yesterday to find a home for my quarterly bonus [long since spent now :)], I fell into a deal on a Bare light trilam suit. Slightly used, being sold through my LDS [who I trust emphatically]. The seals are latex, the boots soft. 2 piece climate control 200 weight fleece. For short money [about 50% off new].

I've not seen it/tried it on yet, but it seems like a killer deal if it fits and checks out.

What do people think? DivingGal, I think I saw in another thread that you went this direction?

Now I know almost nothing about drysuits, other than they keep you dry and it's necessary around here if you don't want diving to be a seasonal sport!

I am also interested in the Bare ATR Light. It seems to be a combination of the thicker higher priced suits and the cheaper tri-lam. I have found it for $715 US online. I have not bought it yet. I am still doing my research. Can anyone tell me there opinion of this suit. This is going to be my first dry suit and I understand the need for quality. Thanks

The Bare ATR light is a decent suit. But I would spend the extra $200 and get the ATR HD. It is a thicker trilam suit that can really take a beating. If you are diving in areas where there are sharp objects, you could easily tear a hole in the ATR light.

The Whites Nexus shell suit is comparable to the ATR light, but without the torso recoil. It's a decent suit too.

Have you looked at Diving Concepts? Their Z Flex suit is about the same price as the ATR light, but made with thicker material. It also has the torso recoil. This is the one I went with. It is my first dry suit as well.

I have read many posts on this board where people bought the ATR light and later got the ATR HD or a DC suit. Try to at least try on the suits you are considering buying. Do plenty of research before you buy, it is a big investment.

Once you go dry, you'll never go wet!!!!

Yes Spectre, that's what I have. I love it. I've only had one problem with it in the years that I've been using it. The arm vent leaked -- it went to Bare, they fixed it, and I had my suit back before I knew it.

With the front zips, I like being able to don the suit by myself -- though I never say no to a bit a help from friends. The trilam shell allows me to layer the amount of undergarments I need.

Although I did start off with the Bare 200 undergarment, I've just recently switch to the Weezles. I like the light weight, warmth capabilities they have. (Any one want the Bare undies?)
