OK gang... give me some input.

What should (if anything) warrant a temp ban (5 day suspension)?

What should (if anything) warrant a perm ban?

So FGray...

you are scared to make any constructive suggestions, but are not afraid to openly criticise? Somehow, I find that disengenuous at best, and either you are deceiving yourself into believing this or you have another agenda. The funny part is that you actually think that no one would see through that farce.

BTW, I am not the moderator in question here.

If I had made the statement above I would have been accused of calling some a bad name and most likely have been banned.
I've come to the conclusion that if your say the wrong thing and a moderator disagrees and you defend yourself you ARE suject to bannishment. Even if its in a private message. When I was banned and the questioned was posed as to why to a differant moderator than the one that banned me .
The statment was made "that was between Me and the moderator that banned me" The banning took all of 90 seconds so I have to beleive there was no dicussion with any other Moderators or you guys are fast at making decisions.
Anyway now I choose to take the high road and avoid the conflicts. I use the board for setting up trips and mild decussions. Nothing intense. After all this is not real life. My bank account isn't affected by it and nothing said here will will take away from or add to life as I know it. Unlike some of the people that particapate. Keep in mind This is simply my opinion you don't have to agree with me.

FYI: By the way you wouldn't like my suggestions.

So if a few koolaid drinkers regularly report the posts of a non koolaid drinker they get banned?

I'm sure the process is more involved than, "Look, he had 5 of his posts reported... goodbye!"

I respectfully disagree with your premise here. If anyone feels that a moderator has stepped over the line, they merely need to ask another mod or to e-mail the board. TA will make sure that I get a copy of any protests.

You know cornfed, as I read your post I was thinking... boy, I am glad we can't get voted off of the island because people hate us! I would be the first to go! Can I at least keep the Rolls?

It's awfully tough to complain about a particular moderator being out of line when you don't know which moderator has been doing the work, isn't it Pete?

It's not awfully hard to complain at all Boogie... in fact for some it's a science. I can always trace who banned who. But I am not about to go pulling up 20,000 names one at a time to check everyone's status.

NetDoc:
CHRPAI, go back and read what TA said... if we get multiple posts that "says something". We have posts reported for many different reasons... mis-spelling, grammar, they disagree, they hate the person, they hate the board... you name it, and I have seen someone complain along those lines.

Obviously, this is why we have a DIVERSE cadre of moderators. That's why we have a private room to discuss things. So no, a group of people banding together to report a post that does not violate the TOS will not result in banning anyone. Actually, it merely annoys us.

I have reread it and that is NOT what he said. He said

"when multiple users complaint about the content of a post, it says something"

He didn't say multple posts by a user, he said multiple complaints about A post. What he says contradicts with what you say, and also contradicts with the history of bannings around here.

No I'm talking about 5 people constantly complaining about the posts of one person. ( I.E. the Karl syndrome )

Pete - you said "If anyone feels that a moderator has stepped over the line, they merely need to ask another mod..."

My point - and the point I think several of us have attempted to make, perhaps to unlistening ears is:

You can't ask another mod! You don't know who did the action in the first place, so how can you go and ask "another" mod????

Most of the moderator actions are conducted behind this giant hypocritical veil of secrecy - we just want some open and honest conduct. I don't think it's too much to ask.
