If anyone else is going to the Bamboo Reef fun Dive on Sunday in Monterey (meet at the Bamboo Reef Store, 9am Sunday morning on Lighthouse Ave if I recall) I will see you there.

I'll be the guy with no clue about diving in Northern California! (or California as a whole)

Hello James,
Check out some of Chucks links, http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/ba_diving/ read about the "Information for the certified diver who is new to Monterey" and "Information on diving in kelp" Looking at the swell condition you should have some nice diving, haven't heard about the vis. Have fun!

Thanks, I've read all the links on Chucks site, but while reading helps, getting out there and diving is definately much better... I'm both terrified and excited at the same time right now, can't wait to dive, but dreading the cold water.

But hopefully some great dives, and hopefully my new camera doesn't leak (if I take it second dive, we'll see what the vis is like).

James,
What kind of camera do you have? Can you take the camera out of the case and replace it with a small weight, maybe a soft 2 pound weight or something? Then take that weight and wrap it with a paper towel or toilet paper, and close up the case, (if you are pooping your paints about diving cold water that might come in handy) Just kidding :-) But if the paper does get wet, well you just saved yourself a camera. Of course during that dive you will see the greatest biggest things ever, and wished you had your camera instead of a dumb weight. You will be fine, just don't try to dive in your 3 mil shorty.
