I showed the picture to one of the faculty members in the Marine Science Institute on campus here, and he identified it as a gelatinous egg mass of the polychaete Arenicola cristata

Well! That clears it up! Because it would have been really confusing if you had posted it's scientific name, not it's much shorter name, which everybody without 3 degrees refers to it as. Just kidding, though i'm impressed you remembered what it was called long enough to post it here. :wink:
