Now, while I say that on the ground you lift the rig and stay stationary yourself, and in the water you move both the rig and yourself (in opposite directions), I remind you of the fact that this is a thought experiment only.

You might actually want to validate things in a pool (replace the flooded drysuit with no suit but same amount of lead). It's not 100% the same (no drysuit gloves), but it might give you an idea.

I have not tried this myself, yet, but I'm excited to give it a go.
