My mates just off to do his IDC/MSDT on Koh Tao for a couple of months... what's the weather like out there now? Would love to hear that it's pouring with rain, windy as hell and terrible viz! Not that Im jealous or anything...

The last few days we've been having rain in BKK , Monday it chucked it down.

All very unusual for this time of year.

Seems to have cleared up today , we are being treadted as write to a spectacular sunset.

Will report back about the gulf conditions on Saturday as I will be in it.

Cheers

Im guessing it should be getting better as the weeks go by.... whatever it's like Im sure it's better than scotland, we've been having rain/sleet/snow - makes it very uncomfortable for changing out of a semi dry at the roadside! lol.

29th Jan a few years ago I was driving by Loch Lomand , the was a foot of snow on the ground and it still hadn't finished.

As the road dipped right next to the water I spotted this group of guys staggering under the weight of all their gear in dry suits.

I had to pull over and check on the sanity of these people.

I think they understood the general gist of what I was saying but I have no idea what the reply was , though they all had smiles on their faces. Maybe they'd just frozen that way.

Good job all those celts have the steadying influence of the Anglo-Saxons nearby.

Cheers

"whatever it's like Im sure it's better than scotland"

..and that's the real point. Even if you have a wet rainy day here in Thailand it's still warm rain. As an old cycling buddy of mine said "don't worry - you're not made of sugar, you won't dissolve"

I did hear yesterday from a friend in Samui that the rain was lashing down and dive conditions poor. But weather in the gulf is like weather on "our side", and rarely stays bad for long. In the off season, just expect some days to be better than others.

That's true... maybe I'll just have to resign (again!) and get myself back out to thailand to teach!

Ha! will let him know to pack the sea sickness tablets, that ferry ride from chumporn to koh tao can get pretty rough!
