super opus:
im about to buy a back reg myself i was told to buy at least the same reg as my main or better
i can trun my b2 so its all most off still think a unbalanced reg would be better then that??
Hey chef super opus,

What's cooking?

I haven't seen you for a while and hope to see you at a dive sometime soon.

I have not dove with the b2, so I'll not comment on that.

I'm using ScubaPro R190s for both my primary and backup regs and I have had absolutely no problems with them. I find that they breathe just fine down to 110 ft. and beyond that I couldn't comment. Of course, beyond that I'd probably have some helium in the mix which would make the regs breathe even better. I guess I'll know for sure when I finally get to Rec Triox or Tech 1.

They are hooked up to my 20 year old US Divers 1st stage which has some funky hose routing but breathes just fine.

I'm thinking of replacing that first stage with an Apeks DS4 for better hose routing that will still provide me with an environmentally sealed 1st stage.

I know in-laws and outlaws in MN and WI and plan on diving the Great Lakes down the road and want to have something that does well in the icy waters of Lake Superior.

Agree on the H-valve. And, in real diving, I take a pony.

If you're going to advocate the use of a pony bottle, please take it out of this forum.
