mo2 --PM me -- they're virtually brand new and they need a good home :)

rjack -- it boils down to the fact that I really don't want to use a weight belt. I'm going to try a rear weight pouch as well, but I like the idea of having a half V-weight a little higher (and a little more sturdy). Wearing a drysuit gives me redundant buoyancy, but you're right I haven't tried swimming up the whole rig yet.

I appreciate your point of view about the v-weight, but the thread was about how to make it work, not whether or not it was best.
OK...LOL

Don't sell those tanks until I have a chance to dive them!

Jeff,

Let me rephrase my amusing statement. I realize that you use less lead than me, and I realize that you think putting a v-weight on these tanks will stand me on my head. I, however, know that it won't because I've dived that exact setup once before and trimmed out just fine (albeit the wobble from the plate/tank spacing).

I agree that I am a few pounds heavy with it, but until proven otherwise I prefer this to the alternatives (weight belts and tail weights). This thread was started to see if anyone could tell me who makes a flatter plate or a thinner v-weight.

Your points have not gone unnoticed, and I will re-check my weighting with empty tanks in the near future. I will also try a tailweight, but in the meantime I'd like to see if anyone else has dealt with this and how.

Scott, why not try a weightbelt and figure out how much lead you actually need before dinking around with a v-weight which may end up being too heavy. Then you've gotta cut it, oops now you add a vest and need a bigger one again...

Whats the big deal about an 6~8 lb weightbelt anyway?

Nothing in particular; I've just never liked them and try to streamline around them if at all possible. I suppose I should just get over my OCD-ness and just keep it simple instead....

Ms. face-in-the-sand with her 72's. Good luck peeling your grill of the rocks if you bail in these things...

Back off, missy. :no I asked the question, I got dibbs, and 'Chica needs some Galv 85's...

You can deliver them when you come down here in January. :eyebrow:

Uh, Ken, they are painted Worthingtons. You'd hate them, they are white which is SOOOOO 1990s and not hip and cool down in SoCal.

Plus this whole 108/85 thing is partially my fault. I borrowed the 108s to see if I liked them, and I didn't. I held onto the tanks for about a month while making up my mind. I then felt guilty, and set up this whole tank-swap thing that is unfolding up here. Basically, I am a pimp for my friend's tanks (Lynne, no comments about my tank addiction please).

We like tank-swapping in the PNW. You LA types just wouldn't understand.

It's like wife-swapping. Tanks go and spend a little time here, and a little time there . . . They're cherished, and kept in the fold. They just change partners now and then :)

Okey dokey then. TMI
