I am trying to figure out which computer to use as a back up computer for cave diving.

Some key points:
  • I freedive some for fun
  • I own a Suunto Vyper 2 as my primary
  • weight is important
  • size is important
  • cost is important
  • I do gas switching
  • I would probably use the back up in gauge mode

The choices: Suunto D4, Oceanic Geo 2, Suunto Vyper

I would like to hear if anyone has had problems with any of these computers. I am just looking for some advice for a wise buy.

I would get a Helo2 as primary, and use Vyper as backup.

Thank you for your ideas. I will look at the research tool.

The HelO2 is a nice looking computer, but if I were going to spend that much on a dive computer, I would get an X1. I do not want to spend over US$500.

I just tried the computer research tool and it gave me the same listing as the ones I found and listed before. It was very user friendly and gave the information I was interested, but it did not give me any more choices or narrow down my search other than discluding the D4.
