If you can't tell the difference, then it is better to use the hog harness. It costs less, and there is less chance of failure.

Some people like the added D-Rings/PolyPoint rings... I'll probably go hog next time though.

Comfort wise though, I doubt you can tell the difference.

I've just recently purchased the DSS long pattern SS back plate, LCD 30# wing and the hog harness. After three weekends of diving with it in the pool, I'm still adjusting but, it's feeling better and better each time.

Hog style harness is clean and easy. Feels like the tank is bolted to your back, and fewer failure points. I have 2 bent D-Rings at shoulders, and 2 smaller D-Rings at each waist for SPG & reel. Once the webbing breaks in you should be set.

Dive safe!

If it feels like the tank(s) are bolted on you might want to check the lenght of those STA bolts.....;)

Robert,

Most plates will accept any harness that's based on 2 inch webbing. DSS plates can be used with OMS "Comfort" harnesses, etc.

I would still recommend using the standard "Hogarthian" Harness. Why? They are cheaper, accepted by all Tech Training Agencies, and really not a big deal to use.

Hogarthian Harnesses take a little time to set up, and a little practice to get used to, but they are not more difficult or less comfortable than other choices, just a bit different.

Lastly, If you are contemplating a DSS plate and wing, you will get a substainital discount if you buy a "complete rig" That's a package including a plate, wing, harness and cambands/wedge blocks.

You can always swap harnesses later if you want, but very few do.

Hmm! good to know, I'll definately keep it in mind,so far I've only tried on the DSS comfort without a tank, I still want to try it again and I want to try a HOG harness & the OMS also, guess this is going to be a project sale,
thx again

I think you will definitely like it. I know I'm still adjusting mine and if tightened WAY more than I ever thought I would. Each time I do, it's feeling better and better.

Michael

Totally agree with michael, just as i thought i was gonna suffocate, i had to tighen it more.. When will this tightening ever end? lol..

You're gonna love ur rig. IMHO, a hog harness is great. One piece of webbing, and infinite adjustability (though in my sense, means infinitie adjusting).. Still waiting to get the harness to break in..
Good luck!
