SangP, keep in mind that the two options that you're describing, the NESS $329 special and Hammerhead plate+harness and Oxycheq Sig Wing, is that you don't have cam straps. That's an additional $30-$60 depending on the make/model you choose.

That's true. If you don't have any spare cam straps, etc, the real price is $450 from NESS. It is the strating point you can compare the price.

There's also the Deep Sea Supply rig . I have the Hogarthian harness and really like it.

Dang I keep forgeting about the cams... However, having said that, a fully setup Halcyon rig is about the same except for the weight pockets.

I understand that you want to support your lds but you are paying 600 bucks for a diverite rec wing and a ss plate with weight pockets and that is a bit seep from my point of view.

My rational is that a rec wing is a large cylinder or 2 cylinder wing that is a single bladder and does not have an outer shell for protection.

$600 for a system with pockets that Halcyon sells for $487 excluding the pockets which included would be about the same price.

Truth be told I paid a lot more than necessary for my Halcyon rig from my LDS but that's a different story.

However way I look at it, wing & regs from LDS everything else you could go elsewhere.

Anyway, think what is best for your buck.

Exactly what pockets are you getting in this setup?

Are those the 32# weight pockets or the 16#?

Are those the slate pockets?

My 32# DR weight system cost me $90.00 from a DR dealer in Miami, these pockets are better than the old DR design, since they improoved the retention system by adding an aditional flap on the outside, they work awesome and in my opinion are worth the increase in price over the old design.

yep theyre the 32# pockets. I priced things out and what I might do is pay the $104 for the plate, $109 for the harness(the transplate harness), $28 for the tank straps, and the $99 for the 32# pockets all from my LDS, and buy my bladder online since its $75 cheaper that way. then the total package will only come to like $525 and thats not tooo bad for the way it feels and fits me. For the options that i get by going with a system that has interchangable bladders and the option of 1 tank or 2, I can justify spending that much. plus im in highschool....I got nothing else to buy cept insurance lol

I paid $650.00 tax included for my SS BP with a deluxe harness, a 45# bungied blader and the 32# weight system.

In my opinion you got a good deal even if you pay the $75.00 to the LDS, but for $525.00, it's even a better deal.

Hi mxracer19,

I would not buy a bladder online cus of the warranty concerns. I would prefer to by the bladder through your lds and save by getting the plate/harness online.

It's much harder to damage a plate and harness then a bladder. I would also advice you to try to get a bladder with an outer shell for added protection.

Also do you need 32 Lbs pockets? What system are you diving in, doubles, dry or wetsuit? You may only need 32 lbs if you dive dry and I was adviced previously to try a cheaper alternative like the XS Scuba weight belt.

Cheers,

SangP
