I have read the forum and got some answers but a few remain. I recently acquired back inflate (not bp/wing). I am a cold water diver with drysuit (bag with undergarment). (usually carry around 38lbs lead- some integrated some on belt). I can play awhile to get weight right to avoid tip over however thought some advice would be available from others on setup. Your comments are much appreciated.

I have some similar questions. I have been using an Oceanic Probe weight integrated jacket but want to switch to a back inflate. So far I have been able to carry all of my wieght in the BC but I generally dive in fresh water so I need less weight. In a few months I will be going to do some diving off San Diego. I have been thinking a better route would be a weight harness since the amount of weight is so large, in order to cut down the stress on the BC.

I too am considering switching from my jacket. Trying to dial in my new drysuit, and, not happy with my trim. Also not happy with the shifty bulk of weight pockets that are stuffed.
Are certain types of BPW more likely to push your head down while others will bring your head into a more upright position?

I have a rear inflate and carry 36 pounds, 12 on a belt, 10 in each front pocket and 2 in each rear pocket. I tryed having all the weight in the BC but found it shifted alot during diving. I also just switched from an Oceanic Probe to a Zeagle and have found there to be minimal difference other than the lack of pressure on my sides.
dashark I think it depends more on the tank than the BPW, they also have 2 tanks straps so if it does do that you can put the weight pockets on the lower one instead.
