Hi,

My girlfriend needs a new BC for Christmas (lucky her), and try as I might, she's just not open to the idea of a backplate and wings. She has a very short torso (she's 5' tall), and a normal sized backplate digs into her lower back, and short of ordering a short backplate that she's already strongly opposed to the idea of using, I can't convince her to try one. So I'm looking at women's back-inflate BCs as an alternative. I'm hoping to be able to narrow the choice down based on quality and features, then find the particular BC(s) in a shop for her to trial before purchase. I'm still kicking around the idea of ordering a short backplate for her to try anyway! It can always go on eBay later, or into the cupboard for future use. Or be used to bash me over the head for being so adamant in getting her to try one...

So what women-specific back-inflation BCs with weight integration are out there? The only two that I'm aware of are the SeaQuest Libra, and Scubapro LadyHawk. Are there any others that we should be looking at? Diving will be a mixture of cold Californian, and warm Floridian and Caribbean travel diving, probably evenly split. Up until now she's been using rentals. She is also quite large busted :))), so if any women out there can relate their good or bad experiences with back-inflation BCs, let me know.

I'm hoping to avoid jacket BCs, but the final choice will be hers.

Does the LadyHawk have one or two tank straps?

Don't worry - just saw a picture of one with a single strap.

Like my knighthawk her ladyhawk only has one strap. But i have to say it is very secure.Scubapro uses an awesome buckle setup for tightening down the tank.Neither one of us has ever had a tank come loose. But i do prefer the double strap set up on my halyon setup but have never had a problem with the scubapro set up.

First of all, any male diver that has a girlfriend or wife that dives probably does not know how lucky he is. Second, never try to talk a woman into anything. She will arrive at her own conclusion as to what gear she wants too use.
